Sebastian Martinez-Kadlecik is a Latinx writer of film, television, and comic books. Forever fascinated by nuanced characters and complicated relationships, he’s been crafting stories since the moment he could pick up a pencil... and a camcorder. In junior high and high school he split his free time between making short films and drawing comic books-- building worlds and creating universes by whatever means available. As he headed off to college, he immersed himself in acting for stage and screen and even garnered a full-ride to Southern Methodist University to obtain his master’s degree. After working professionally as a theater actor, he headed to Los Angeles where he became an ensemble member of various theater companies and sketch comedy troupes. But once again, comics came calling-- this time in the form of his epic comic book series Penguins vs. Possums. Having wrapped up the multi-issue tale about a secret, interspecies war for dominion over the earth, he turned his attention to the story of a young Latina who gets superpowers at her quinceañera in the Eisner Award-nominated series Quince. He is currently co-writing the feature film adaptation of that lauded series for Netflix. In addition, he is developing his extremely personal, supernatural TV show Land of Enchantment for Netflix. Sebastian also co-hosts the podcast Here’s Why It’s Great, which takes the movies you hate and tells you why they’re great. In all of his work, Sebastian strives to create authentic, personal stories centered on identity, family, and multi-generational drama. He has an undying love for genre, an affinity for world-building, and a deft hand at writing action. Sebastian is repped by CAA, Inclusion, andGGSSC, LLC.
