Martin Julio Castillo

Martín Julio Castillo is a Mexican American television and film writer. Raised in a small farming community alongside the Mexican border, he is influenced by the stories of legend and folklore from the border and beyond. His craft explores human mortality through the lens of mysticism and the occult to introduce the notion that maybe death isn’t as finite as we believe. He gravitates towards horror infused worlds and characters seemingly beyond the scope of redemption to showcase that, with enough ambition, anyone can arise the victor. Martín is a former Entomology scientist whose research focused on invasive species and parasitic insects in California. He channels his experiences as a Brown, LGBTQ+ kid growing up in low-income neighborhoods to tell terrifying tales of trauma, loneliness, and fighting like hell to earn your keep.
